Enhancing Reputation is one of the five focus areas of the agInnovation South Strategic Roadmap. We believe that enhancing the reputation of faculty and institutions within the Southern Region results in a strong voice to influence the national research agenda and provides visionary leadership for research excellence.
On March 23, 2022, we presented a webinar entitled Honorifics: Building Your Culture of Nomination (see below) to provide strategies and ideas to assist Experiment Station directors and department leaders in developing a culture of honorifics within and among our member institutions by consistently recognizing the research excellence of our faculty.
We are following up the webinar with a virtual notebook comprised of modules that we hope you will find useful in developing your culture of nomination.

American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellows
AAAS Fellows are a distinguished cadre of scientists, engineers and innovators who have been recognized for their achievements across disciplines, from research, teaching, and technology, to administration in academia, industry and government, to excellence in communicating and interpreting science to the public.
Two key points of the nomination process to keep in mind:
- Three previously elected AAAS Fellows in good standing (so long as two of the three sponsors are not affiliated with the nominee’s institution) are required to submit nomination letters for eligible AAAS member nominees.
- Eligibility for nomination requires an individual to have been a continuous member of AAAS for four years by the end of the calendar year in which they would be elected.
The below list comprises currently active rather than historical Fellows from each of our member institutions from the AAAS database. We hope the list will serve as a useful guide to identify AAAS Fellows in good standing from across the region who can write nomination letters for eligible faculty.
